Valentine’s Day, the last few hours of our trip to the countryside. Always tricky thinking of what to do when you have that looming deadline of having to leave at some point. We decided to check out Hungerford as people had said it was pretty nice there. So we set off in convoy and parked up to find that Hungerford hasn’t got too much going for it…sorry Hungerford, perhaps we missed some of it.
Went into some whacky antiques shop that was pretty huge, like an indoor marketplace, with some very interesting items and some a bit creepy. I was tempted by some of the muskets and pistols, but at about £2,000 a pop I can’t say I was too keen.
That was the highlight of our Hungerford trip really, so we decided to go down to the wonders of Swindon, where they have a big outlet shopping centre. Something easy to do and keep us busy. Was quite a nice place to be fair…shame the same can’t be said about what else I saw of Swindon as I drove through.
Sadly it was then time to head home and after we said our farewells we did then have some car banter for a brief time before heading our separate ways.
When I got home it was time to set up my man date for Valentine’s, so my mate and I hit up the gym with the plan to go to the cinema afterwards. However Odeon’s servers couldn’t cope with the demand and the Kingston cinema was rammed, so we settled for watching the football in the pub with a pint, then a Five Guys after. Healthy post gym activity.
In the gym it was legs day and I was trying to focus on a bit more explosive movement this week with slightly lighter weight but higher reps. Here was what I got up to:
- Barbell Squat – 50kg/10, 50kg/10, 50kg/10, 50kg/10, 50kg/10
- Dumbbell Lunges – 15kg/8, 15kg/8, 15kg/8
- Leg Extensions – 68kg/8, 68kg/8, 68kg/10
- Leg Press – 140kg/10, 140kg/10, 140kg/10
- Barbell Stiff-Legged Deadlift – 60kg/10, 80kg/8, 80kg/8
- Lying Leg Curls – 48kg/8, 48kg/8, 48kg/8
- Calf Press on Leg Press – 130kg/12
Had to cut it short by a couple sets and warm down to make it to the cinema on time, only for that to not even happen. Oh well.
